Animation – Top 5 Trends of 2017

Sep 8, 2017 | 3D Animation

Three dimensional technologies are not just limited to 3D movies anymore, now you can do a variety of 3D services with the latest software today. One of the 3D services that can be done today is 3D animation. 3D animation is a way to bring your products and ideas to life and is used in a multitude of industries.

Some of the industries that use 3D animation are film, television, video games, interior design, forensics and more. It is one of the versatile ways to showcase an idea in a way that effectively captures the watcher’s attention.

3D animation is on the rise in all the industries and continues to grow today. If you are looking for a career in 3D animation, it is best to keep up to date on the new and upcoming trends. Here are some of the 3D animation top five trends of 2017.

  1. Virtual Reality

Virtual reality is a computer generated simulation of 3D images that is designed to create environments that can be interacted with in some way by the user. Virtual reality has advanced in the last year and shows no signs of stopping. Companies are working on fine tuning how virtual reality works in order to create optimal engagement between the user and the computer simulated reality.

  1. Stop Motion

This is when the animation is captured one frame at a time, with objects that are moved between each frame. Then when you play the frames rapidly, it creates the illusion of movement. This helps improve the connection between the brand and the consumer and adds a more natural look to the movement. This used to lag in popularity but now in 2017, it is back with some major improvements!

  1. Liquid Motion

Liquid motion is when shapes are smeared and splashed together to create an action. It moves in a slight slow motion. This trend is useful in ensuring quality transition from one movement to the next. By employing skillful liquid motion, you can add a level of quality to the animation that might not be achieved through other technologies.

  1. Illustration

Illustration has been around for such a long time that it is considered a classic method of doing animation. One of the first examples that come to mind when thinking about illustration animation is all the Disney movies. It takes a certain type of skill and effort to create a realistic illustration that can be integrated into animation. It is considered to be one of the truly original methods of working.

  1. Axonometric Projection

Axonometric projection is creating objects or shapes with lines that are perpendicular to each other, and the object/shape would spin on various axis to showcase all angles of the object/shape. This is considered a cost effective way of doing 3D animation. Most of the graphics can be done for this before it even reached the animation phase. It’s complex and could be a bit slow but it the amount of detail and work that goes into it makes it worthwhile.
